The Sandbar on Lake Norman (also referred to as Beachin’ Island) is one of the top destinations for weekend boaters. However, for many it is difficult to find unless you have a guide to direct you. For this reason, we have put together directions with visual aids to help you navigate your way to the Lake Norman Sandbar.
Depending upon your departing location will determine which direction you will be approaching the Sandbar from. Please refer the following map to determine which applies to you:
The Sandbar is attached to an island, which is to the south of two other smaller islands. These three islands form a triangular shape in between markers D2, D4, and D6. In the 3D diagram below you will see how the islands are arranged if you were approaching from the east, near marker D6.
Once you make inside the cove of the three islands you will most likely see a group of boats tied up near the edge of the island. When approaching, and when dropping anchor, please adhere to all the rules of the water. (Remember to set out your bumpers, and be mindful of the No Wake zone). There are also signs that inform you as to where you are prohibited from dropping anchor, so please be mindful of these restrictions. LKN Social encourages everyone to have a fun and SAFE time at the Sandbar, and be mindful of those around you.
